5/28 - bench, pushups, curls, bench dips, alt db curls
Action heroes in the movies have always been jacked, at least as far back as Steve Reeves pulling down buildings as Hercules.
And there was the ripped to shreds to physique of Bruce Lee, of course.
Actors like Stallone and Schwarzennegger made their physicality intrinsic to their characters in the Golden Age of Action 80s flicks...
These days you've got man-monsters like Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson carrying on the tradition.
But now you've also got folks who are "just" actors who get jacked and ripped for their roles. One of my favorites is Hugh Jackman, here rocking deadlifts.
Who basically transformed himself over the years...
A lot of folks point to the movie "300" and how the actors got all Spartan'ed up and kicked off the ridiculously in-shape actors in movies bit.
But.
Predating 300 by a couple years was a flick, admittedly not great but I liked it, where two of the leads - a guy and a girl - got in fantastic shape. [Plus fight & weapons training too.]
Blade: Trinity with Ryan Reynolds & Jessica Biel.
That's the first movie I saw & thought "Wait, normal looking people can do this too? Fuck yeah." That's motivating.
"She's making playlists. She likes to listen to MP3s when she hunts. It's like her own internal soundtrack, you know? Dark core, trip-hop, whatever kids are listening to these days. Me, I'm more of a David Hasselhof fan, you know?"
