...when your dreams from last night feature the deceased Ossie Davis retiring during the series finales of Parks and Recreation & Community -- and the cast of Happy Days & Laverne and Shirley helping you change your bicycle tire in Japan while seeing some of your old elementary school students -- it seems worth noting.

When you die in your dreams you do not, in fact, die in the real world.

We can blame "Nightmare on Elm Street," I think, for the perpetuation of this urban myth/old wives' tale.

I've had the 'falling and wake up before you land' dreams, but can't recall ever actually dying in a dream - until last night.  Some variation of a drug deal gone bad scenario ended with a gun being put to my head and getting shot point blank in the left temple [weird what you remember.]  In the dream there was the immediate fade to black/death and a quick cut into a completely different dreamscape.  At which point I woke up and said "Hey, that's new."

...bleeding out.  Also Robert DeNiro & Billy Crystal [Analyze This?] - Dr Frankenstein & his monster, to replace my heart, obviously.  And the mother of all recurring dreams, moving back into Bancroft and having to redo Plebe year.  I hate that dream.  Have it once or twice a year, easy.

The one where I have racist dreams...

Still in the military, having just completed a Russian kettlebell track and field meet, I head over to the ATC tower, having to swim across a river and talk to a guy I knew from college, where my CO is also the President of the U.S. - Barack Obama. The big secret is that Obama has a cocaine processing warehouse on the airfield and is a drug lord. And then I wake up.

Weird night.

First time I ever remember having this type of dream...

It was, as dreams go, kind of amazing. Flying around the old neighborhood in NC. It was quite vivid. Kind of exilirating. I did wake up thinking for a half second if I could actually fly...

Dreams of Flying:
