Obama policies validate Cheney-Bush; also lying about damage from Wikileaks.

Gah.

Morning Links | The Agitator:
"Obama has essentially validated Dick Cheney. Particularly sad, given that you could make a strong argument that he was elected because of opposition and outrage over Cheney’s policies."
U.S. officials privately say WikiLeaks damage limited | Reuters:
"Internal U.S. government reviews have determined that a mass leak of diplomatic cables caused only limited damage to U.S. interests abroad, despite the Obama administration's public statements to the contrary.

A congressional official briefed on the reviews said the administration felt compelled to say publicly that the revelations had seriously damaged American interests in order to bolster legal efforts to shut down the WikiLeaks website and bring charges against the leakers.

...State Department officials have privately told Congress they expect overall damage to U.S. foreign policy to be containable, said the official, one of two congressional aides familiar with the briefings who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity."

  1. This is really misrepresenting facs; Obam,a can hardly welcome disclosure of cables. Cheney legalized torture and invaded iraq over oil. Explain that to the widowed wifes of service men who died "for their country".

  2. Anonymous/freepresss - if you follow the links you'll see how the policies of the Obama administration re Iraq & torture are pretty much completely in line with those of the previous administration, regardless of rhetoric to the contary. And whether the administration "welcome"s the release of the cables, painting them as massive dangerous security breaches and Wikileaks with "blood on their hands" as opposed to the fairly innocuous material that, at worst, shines a light on embarrassing facets of foreign diplomacy is disingenuous at best, outright lying at worst.
