Law of Eristic Escalation: Imposition of Order = Escalation of Chaos.

"Fenderson's Amendment adds that the tighter the order in question is maintained, the longer the consequent chaos takes to escalate, BUT the more it does when it does!"

"Once you’ve escaped, once you come back, the world is not the same as when you left it."

"People talk about escapism as if it’s a bad thing… Once you’ve escaped, once you come back, the world is not the same as when you left it. You come back to it with skills, weapons, knowledge you didn’t have before. Then you are better equipped to deal with your current reality." - Neil Gaiman

This was my favorite scene in the trailer, in fact.

Continued Nerfing of the World - Doritos and "triggering" political activity.

Pansy Child Can't Handle A Spicy Dorito, School Bans The Chips Entirely: "When a kid found a Dorito to be too spicy, the school system banned Doritos.

 No. Fucking really.

The school banned Doritos. Via the Daily Mail: A school has banned new crisps which are 10 times hotter than jalapeno chillis after they affected a pupil’s breathing. Bags of Doritos Roulette contain a mixture of regular crisps and extra-spicy ones which makers boast ‘will leave you close to tears’. But the George Pindar School in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, has banned the bags from its site after a youngster was taken ill. A school spokesman said it brought in the ban ‘after an incident with a student where they had experienced some difficulty breathing after eating one’.

...These kids will need to take on Mega-ISIS one day, but they won’t be able to because they’ll whine that their state-issued M-5’s get too hot when they hold the trigger for too long. Then we’re seriously fucked. Ban Doritos now, caliphate later."

Portland State University Will Shut Down Political Activity If It’s ‘Triggering’ - Hit & Run : Reason.com: "Portland State University bureaucrats are doing a great job demonstrating how overblown concerns about the emotional security of students can quickly lead to blanket censorship of constitutionally-protected political speech. Administrators told a conservative student that his political protest could “trigger” a negative reaction from others—as such, he was prevented from continuing with his plans. Student Christian Britschgi had the idea to create a fake “murder-free zone” to criticize the logic behind self-described “gun-free zones.” Britschgi’s thinking is that a gun-free designation wouldn’t stop a criminal—someone intent on committing violence—from carrying a gun into such a place, just as the creation of a murder-free zone wouldn’t make anyone more or less safe from being murdered. Killers don’t obey signs. Regardless of what one thinks about the idea, Britschgi has an ironclad right to advertise it to his campus. College is exactly the sort of place where people with different ideas about gun laws should be allowed to make an attempt to convince one another.

University administrators disagreed. They called the flyers promoting Britschgi’s murder-free zone “libelous” and “triggering,” according to Fox News: “Our advisor signed off on our proposal quickly at first but became skeptical after she saw the nature of the content,” Britschgi said. Upon further review, Britschgi said, school officials determined the proposal could be “libelous,” “triggering” and cause people to attack them.

"With no degree of irony, the supervisor claimed our posters were so inflammatory that they could get us physically attacked by another student.  Apparently there exists a large number of pro-murder partisans at Portland State."

Administrative deference to the protection of feelings and emotions creates a climate of censorship on campus, and here is the proof. When a college deems it necessary to prevent some students from expressing mildly controversial ideas because other students are emotionally incapable of handling them—and could even react violently!—it’s no longer college. It’s not even a nursery school. It’s an insane asylum."

"Do people consider you judgy? If so, everything you know about people is probably wrong because people don’t trust you with the truth."

The Judgy Bubble | Scott Adams Blog: "I might be one of the least-judgmental people on Earth. That’s because I see humanity as a bunch of moist robots bumping around according to the laws of physics. My worldview doesn’t include free will as anything but a necessary illusion to keep people sane. I never believe people “choose” to be evil or socially unacceptable.

I say this sort of thing often, and that means people quickly identify me as someone who can hear their deepest secrets without judging. And so I do. And that means my view of the world is far different than your view because I have access to what might be called the “judgy” layer of life. I hear the stuff that judgy people don’t hear. And as a result, I see people as equally “flawed” in terms of how society judges such things. Normal? It isn’t even a thing in my experience...

"Now let’s say you are a judgy person. Let’s say you hold the view that there is something called “normal” behavior. Your observations support your world view because people act normally around you. People who know how judgy you are hide their freak flags. And that would form a bubble of misinformation for you to live within. Judgy people experience life as a play that is staffed by actors, not real people. Even your friends and family might be trying to avoid your judgy ways by presenting themselves as phony normals.  When a judgy person asks what you did over the weekend, you probably stick to the basics and say you mowed your lawn and had a barbecue. But if I ask the same question about your weekend, I might hear exciting stories of drug deals, orgies, and crimes against nature. I was thinking about this because I know a couple who are the most judgmental people I have ever known. I can’t imagine sharing an honest opinion with them, and I’m sure no one else does either. As a result, the two of them have created a weird bubble of misinformation from which to view the world. For all practical purposes, they exist in a parallel universe where they are “normal” and the rest of the world continues to worsen. Do people consider you judgy? If so, everything you know about people is probably wrong because people don’t trust you with the truth."

#Truth - "Road House Is Patrick Swayze's Finest Hour, And Also America's."

Via: "Road House has a persistent rep among assholes as a so-bad-it’s-good farce, but it’s so much more than that. It’s a film that recognizes and embraces its own absurdity...   It’s got a bar owner describing his own business as “the kind of place where they sweep the eyeballs up after closing.” It’s got one lead villain start a fight by barking, “I used to fuck guys like you in prison,” leading to countless “Is that badass? I guess that’s badass” middle-school debates."

"Virtually every scene has at least one minor touch that will make you cackle with delight if you have any soul whatsoever. But it’s not a comedy; it’s a strange vision with its own sense of internal logic. It takes a deeply unlikely premise—the world’s best bouncer takes on a small-town criminal mob—and does it as well as anyone could possibly ever do it. It’s one of the greatest action movies ever made, no qualifiers necessary...

Consider, if you will, the scene where Swayze meets love interest Kelly Lynch, a dubiously hot small-town doctor. He checks into the hospital after finally getting a knife wound bad enough that he can’t sew it up himself; she starts out annoyed that she has to deal with this no-good bar-fighter, but she’s also fascinated with how someone with as calm a demeanor as Swayze can find himself getting so many knife wounds. She notes that his medical record claims that he earned a degree in philosophy from NYU, since this movie takes place in a world where your medical records also include every salient fact about you. And the brief conversation that follows allows Swayze to deliver two amazing, iconic lines: “Pain don’t hurt” and “Nobody ever wins a fight.”

...With its deadpan tone and its constant zen aphorisms, Road House fuses the action movie and the art film just as completely as something like Le Samourai or Ghost Dog. It got credit for none of that. Instead, it earned itself a handful of Razzie nominations and a 40 percent on the Tomatometer, the sort of thing that makes me want to go back in time and slap 60 percent of movie critics and the entire Razzie nominating committee upside the head...  Road House deserves better. Let’s rescue it from ironist dickbags and remember it as the all-time classic it is."

POWERLIFTING MOTIVATION: "...here’s the real definition of badass. The man, the myth, the legend. ED COAN! AKA @eddycoan! AKA The Greatest Powerlifter of All-Time! What this man has accomplished in the sport of powerlifting is unprecedented. Especially since he competed in the 80’s and 90’s where equipment and training techniques, and nutrition weren’t as advanced as today. He set MULTIPLE world records, took gold in MULTIPLE World Championships. His best lifts were as follows S: 961 B: 584 D: 901 All as a 220lber. He is also the only man in the 220lb division to have ever deadlifted over 900 lbs which also makes him the lightest man to ever lift that! Which is insane! And he still kicks ass and lifts humongous weights to this day! A true inspiration and American badass. We believe if everyone tried to achieve greatness as Ed Coan did…the world would be a better place. "

"Did anyone feel raped by that? How about drugged? I felt comforted by a familiar father figure... Not Guilty!"

Schumer just crushes it in this sketch.

Amy Schumer wants you to get over your fond Cosby memories already | New York Post: "For the generation that grew up watching Bill Cosby, his spectacular fall from grace was like watching a wall of your childhood home ripped away....

That’s the challenge Amy Schumer took on in a bold sketch from Tuesday night’s episode of “Inside Amy Schumer,” where she appears in a courtroom to act as Cosby’s defense in the court of public opinion."

"“If convicted, the next time you put on a rerun of ‘The Cosby Show,’ you may wince a little,” Schumer says in the bit. That line likely made viewers squirm, as it’s the exact dilemma they’ve been dealing with since Cosby’s allegations reached a breaking point last fall...

Schumer’s defense-attorney character bribes the jury with Jell-O pudding pops. “How could the face of such a yummy treat even do anything bad?” she asks as the jury chomps down on the pops.

"The problem this bit gets to is that a lot of people — fans of his stand-up, people who grew up on “The Cosby Show,” people who applauded his social activism — just don’t want to process the horrible allegations against him. They barricade off the “Cosby the entertainer” part of their brains because cross-pollinating it with the rational analysis part would make those fond memories turn cancerous...

“We deserve to dance like no one’s watching and watch like no one’s raping,” Schumer pleads to the jury. Even with all the fond memories of Cosby reruns, that’s just too much to ask anymore."

‘I support anyone’s right to be who they want to be. My question is: to what extent do I have to participate in your self-image?’ - Dave Chappelle

Dave Chappelle's Comeback Tour Takes Aim at "New Intolerance" - Hit & Run : Reason.com: "His new set is peppered with jokes about him coming face-to-face with the new intolerance. There’s the lesbian couple whose kid is at the same ‘liberal-rich’ private school as his son – one of them laughing along at his jokes about whether or not they qualify for the father-son picnic, the other ‘too committed to her lesbianism’ to entertain them. And then there’s that trans joke, in which Dave, finding himself at a poncey gallery party, is stared down when he dares to ask ‘Is he okay?’ after a cross-dresser collapses in the corner. ‘I support anyone’s right to be who they want to be. My question is: to what extent do I have to participate in your self-image?’

...It's not just Chappelle who has changed over the past 10 years, of course. So has the culture, which has gotten noticeably touchier about all sorts of real and imagined slights. Spiked's Tom Slater has a review-essay about seeing Chappelle, who converted to Islam in the late 1990s, perform in London that's well worth a read if you care about freedom of expression and what is accurately called "the new intolerance...

Race continues to figure heavily in his set, but he draws a line between the real, post-Ferguson issues and mere offence-seeking. ‘Black skin is thick skin’, he says, launching into a hilarious, absurd routine about walking into a Kentucky Fried Chicken, unperturbed when he finds all of the staff wearing KKK hoods, before opining on the ethics of ejaculating after your white girlfriend inadvertently drops racial epithets during sex."

Paul Rudd's still keeping it real.
