Training.

Rutten MMA wkout, boxing, 10x2m rounds
WC 41 - chins, pushups, lunges

Coming out of whatever bug I had this week.  Instead of feeling like I was going to pass out during PT, like the other day, today I only felt nauseous.  Yay, me.  Also, because I decided to fuck with a callous on my hand it looks like I got it a little infected when I tore it off.  Now it's swollen and sore right where I need to grab for chinups.  Blah, blah, blah...  Life sucks, get a helmet.

Yesterday 2/9
Simplefit L3W2 5 rounds for time - 3 chins/10 pushups/10 prisoner squats - 247s [level up]
+WC 40 lunges & [additional] 25 chins

'Captain America: The First Avenger' trailer remixed.

You knew it was coming.  Fuck yeah, ya did.

The original

...and the Thor movie looks a lot better than I thought it would.

That's a damn shame - Sen. Jim Webb announces retirement.

One of the few politicians I can stand.  For ending the war and taking better care of veterans.  Win-win.  And an Academy grad, which doesn't usually get folks a point in my favor, but...

Webb's decision to retire surprises few who know him best:
"After an awkward campaign in which he shied away from Virginia voters and their parochial issues, and after he snubbed President George W. Bush at a White House reception and accused him of taking the country into Iraq 'recklessly,' there was more than a little unease about how Jim Webb would fit into the Senate.

'He's going to be a total pain,' one Democratic aide groaned early on. And that was the sentiment in his own party..."

"How to Deal with Cops: Q&A with Steve Silverman of Flex Your Rights."

Always remember "I don't consent to any searches" and "Am I being detained or am I free to go?"

"...the way to 'stop' the violent thugs who profit from prohibition is [to end] the policy that enriches them."

The stupidity burns, I swear.

Hillary Clinton: We Can't Legalize Drugs Because 'There Is Just Too Much Money in It' - Hit & Run : Reason Magazine:
"...Maerker: In Mexico, there are those who propose not keeping going with this battle and legalize drug trafficking and consumption. What is your opinion?

Clinton: I don't think that will work. I mean, I hear the same debate. I hear it in my country. It is not likely to work. There is just too much money in it, and I don't think that—you can legalize small amounts for possession, but those who are making so much money selling, they have to be stopped.

Clinton evidently does not understand that there is so much money to be made by selling illegal drugs precisely because they are illegal. Prohibition not only enables traffickers to earn a "risk premium" that makes drug prices much higher than they would otherwise be; it delivers this highly lucrative business into the hands of criminals who, having no legal recourse, resolve disputes by spilling blood. The 35,000 or so prohibition-related deaths that Mexico has seen since President Felipe Calderon began a crackdown on drugs in 2006 are one consequence of the volatile situation created by the government's arbitrary dictates regarding psychoactive substances. Pace Clinton, the way to "stop" the violent thugs who profit from prohibition is not to mindlessly maintain the policy that enriches them."

New plants, let's see if I can avoid killing them.

My track record, not so good.  Plants inherited from a moving neighbor.
And finally gotten the balcony halfway cleaned up and the A/C hoses repaired [there was a time of leaks, stagnant puddles and growing mold, now thankfully taken care of through several hours of scrubbing, cleaning and duct tape.]

The week in food.

Food log/cooking stuff.
Mostly standard week.  Tried giving up coffee one day this week, without great results.  No headaches, but like my brain was swimming through clouds... stuffy headed, non focused.  Might try another go this week.  Those Questbars - another thing I got for free through the mail - damn tasty.  Far less processed tasting than most, kinda like cookie dough.  Peanut butter flavor especially good.  Were I to regularly consume bars, I'd probably choose those.  Had about 4 pieces of dark chocolate Sat night because, let's be honest, they were taunting me and asking for it, those sluts.

For the Mrs, mostly soups, sandwiches, baked potatoes, fruit smoothies, ice cream milkshakes, salads and a bit of General Tso's style chicken.  Plus a no bake Jello cheesecake.  Using up our pantry of sauces and whatnots.  Little from scratch, but it is what it is.

But she's never happier than when she whips up her own weekend breakfast foods - usually featuring creative pancakes [cranberries this week, I think] and scrambled eggs.

"Seeking to advance great principles and guide morality among foreign populations is asking for trouble."

Let Your People Go - Reason Magazine:
"The seesaw battle in Cairo demonstrates the danger of seeking to promote a better world through foreign policy. It’s difficult enough to do diplomacy at its proper, potentate-to-potentate level. Seeking to advance great principles and guide morality among foreign populations is asking for trouble. What appears to be clear at a distance inevitably comes apart as you get closer to it..."
